Testing

Choosing a Solution

Reflecting

The picture to the right is of our rocket during launch, at the highest peak it reached. During this test, there were many different outcomes, ranging from positive to negative. For example, our rocket did manage to get off the launch pad and about twenty to thirty feet into the air. In addition, our egg (or "Watney") managed to survive. Our escape pod, however, did not deploy from our rocket during descent. This proved as a negative outcome, for this weighed down the rocket when it started coming down, and it also increased the total impact that the egg and rocket had on the ground. Our prototype also veered to the side in our launch, making more of a parabolic shape rather than a straight up-and-down. This could of had something to do with our center of pressure of center of gravity, because due to last minute changes we were required to make, we were not as confident in our design choices. Also, our nose cone just about got destroyed, and this was because we had to change the material used to paper, rather than plastic, due to the weight that we had to get rid of.
