Choosing a Solution
After we considered all of our design ideas, we decided to actually construct a prototype of a rocket with the engine inside of a smaller tube, which would be inside of a 2.75 inch tube, and have the parachute above that. We chose this design because it was most logical, in the sense that it would cover criteria such as having the escape module deploy, as well as make the most sense when doing calculations such as center of pressure. When we actually constructed this prototype, we found many different pieces of data, such as:
-
Center of Pressure: Approximately 14.9 inches from the tip of the nose
-
Weight of Rocket: Approximately 1.5 pounds
-
Height of Rocket: Approximately 18.59 inches
